Why do people gain body hair as they age?

I've always wondered about this and I hope some of the more knowledgeable people on here can shed light on the subject. It seems that most teenagers and young men in their mid twenties don't have that much facial hair or body hair when compared to older men in their thirties, forties, and fifties.

Why is this? I thought that testosterone levels decrease as we age?

Nobody knows the answer to why we generally develop more body hair (especially in rather annoying places like the nose and ears) as we age. There are SOOOOO many things like that that we just don't understand yet! :mad2:

it has to be sex hormone linked... you get secondary sex hair after puberty starts... we know that increased DHT after that causes body hair, and male pattern baldness for most... then as you get older, testosterone drops of, and older men tend to lose body hair... though there are variations for everyone

Hmmm... i dont think older men tend to lose body hair, at all. I think it's the opposite case.

actually older men to tend to loose body hair as well as gain some as they age.

example would be a loss of hair on the legs.. could be in patches.

example of gain would be eyebrows and nose/ear hair.
