Why do most people take finasteride rather than dutasteride?

If dutasteride is found to be more effective?
If the effectiveness of dutasteride on hair at 0.5mg is the same as 5mg of finasteride, does that mean the side effects would be of the same equivalent?

Was going to get some finasteride but don't know whether to try dutasteride.

Also, has anyone tried any of these topically with any luck?

^I thought finasteride lasted 6-8 hours?

I would like Dutasteride but where can I get it cheap and legit without prescription? It's $360 for 3 months. That's crazy.

4rx has them incredibly cheap but I don't know if they're legit.

I've been wanting to get on it for a while now, it's just that I don't want to get on it when I know I won't be able to consistently stay on it like, $360 every 3 months. I'm a college student, I have other important things I need.

Definitely go with the no-prescription online place. Just pick a website that a lot of people here use. I have been getting my generic finasteride from InHouse but I am considering switching to dutasteride. I'm not sure what brand I'll buy yet.

If dutasteride's half life is 6 months, does that mean there's no need to take some every day?

I've seen in-house Dutasteride. Same price as buying it from a pharmacy with a prescription.

My problem is the price. Not the presc.

It means you can take one every 6 months.

If finasteride's half life is 24 hours, so you have to take one every 24 hours.

The dutasteride's half life being 6 months, you have to take 1 every 6 months.

I'm just kidding, I really don't know.

2.5??!! Why when 0.1mg of dutasteride gives a slightly better result than 5mg of finasteride, and people don't even take that much finasteride. Seems as though 0.5mg should've been more than sufficient. Which you can buy for £25 btw, for 30 tabs.

The offbrand dutasteride isn't really THAT expensive.

Generic "Dutas" seems somewhat affordable. I don't think you take .5 mg every day...I'm not sure on dosing but I think you only take it two or three times a week. Might have to double check on that though.

Cheers man. I think i'll go with the finasteride to play it safe and maybe up to Dutasteride eventually if finasteride loses it's effectiveness.

Im not sure about the dosage of dutasteride but 0.5mg is the standard way of taking it. It would be very cheap to take one every six monts but that wont work since you need to take it consistently to keep the levels at a certain level in the blood. I think Bryan has gone into alot of depth on this before.

finasteride half life maybe around 8 hours but the time it takes for it to be completely out of the body is 24 hours.

I was previously on 2.5mg dutasteride each day, I notice the sides within a couple of weeks but ignored them and stayed on it for around 18 months. It was costing me £100 a month. Now I am off it completely and on good old finasteride.

What kind of results did you see?

It's funny how people are different. On finasteride my erection quality isn't as firm as I'd like. On dutasteride 2-3 x a week, it's awesome. Go figure.

If you wonder about gyno or what changing hormone levels could do with finasteride then your really chancing it by taking dutasteride. I mean it blocks nearly all DHT even type 1 which supposedly is not that important in hair loss and its found in large amounts in places like the skin. Does not seem like a good idea to mess with that in my opinion given our limited understanding of what it actually does there.

dutasteride has a half life for 6 months in comparison with finasteride which is out of your body in 24 hours. Side effects will last longer and it could substantially increase sperm count. Im pretty sure I have read studies of this.

Dutasteride has a 5 week half life. Finasteride is outta your body in 12 hours. Neither of these drugs will increase your sperm count.
