reason 1) you don't destroy the skin on your hands. Over 13 months I have used rogaine every single day twice a day. The fingers I use to rub in the foam were wrinkly and dry (I use 10-15 capfuls an application). Since using gloves my skin is healed.

Reason 2) BETTER absorption. When you use your fingers, the foam actually is absorbed into the skin of your fingers, leaving less for your scalp. Latex/rubber gloves do not absorb minoxidil and it all goes on your scalp

Final reason: reduction in side effects! Since your fingers aren't absorbing the minoxidil (in addition to your scalp) side effects may be reduced.

I use so much per application. My fingers were turning yellow! I asked my uncle-a doctor-and he said the minoxidil was causing it. Since using gloves my skin is rapidly healing

I don't care about the effects of absorbing it on my hands, but you might have a point on more of it being absorbed on your head. Don't care so much about minoxidil since its cheap, but might start doing this for RU to make sure most of it I use is absorbed on my scalp when I rub it in.

It's only a problem becuase i use so much of it and I use the same two fingers to rub it in. That is where the skin problems arise.
