Hi, my hair loss started around 2 to 3 years ago.
- Initially I thought that the hair loss is androgenic alopecia. But I'm losing hair a lot faster than typical Androgenetic Alopecia. I lose somewhere between 70 to 100 hairs a day on average (including wash days). Sometimes during stressful days, it can be even more.
- My hair line has receded a lot and my father also has androgenic alopecia. So, that was my first guess.
But now I notice that if I pull my hair, I lose more hair from the back of my head and less from the hairline. No bald spots are visible anywhere other than my receded hairline.
- All this time I was ignoring the fact that I'm also losing pubic hair.
- Few months ago, I noticed that if I rub my hands/legs or eye brows with wet fingers, I get 1 or 2 hair in my fingers.
- From what I've read on the various forums, Androgenetic Alopecia do not lose hair as fast as I do.
- Another thing to note is that if I shave my head completely and let my hair regrow then I do not lose any hair till 1 month or so. I've literally tried to pull my hair when they are wet and observed very carefully but I have zero hair loss for the first one month of shaving the hair. But my hairline has receded too much to keep very short hair.
- I remember that 2 to 3 years ago when I started to have hair loss, I used to get pain in my scalp. Now I use emu oil for the scalp pain sometimes and the pain is gone if I use it regularly.
So, I'm totally confused on the type of hair loss I have. Is this some form of areata totalis coupled with genetic androgenic alopecia?
Which kind of hairloss do you think this is?
Check the attached pictures.
Please take into account that when I rub wet finger very hardly against my body hair, one hair comes out. I also notice a couple of eyebrows on the towel after rubbing my face (if i notice carefully).
