Let me make sure I have this right....

finasteride:
-helps all over
-helps maintain
-helps regrowth
-least helpful on the crown

Min:
-helps all over
-helps regrowth
-least helpful with hairline

nizoral:
-helps cleanse scalp all over
-helps promote thicker hair?
-does not regrow hair

Anything innacurate? Anything you would add? I'm not clear on where finasteride is supposed to be the most helpful.

finasteride was actually most effective on the crown because that's where it was tested, just like minoxidil. But both are effective all over the head, wherever there is thinning. It is generally easier to get crown regrowth though since that hair is not as sensitive to androgens.

finasteride does give more people maintenance than regrowth and minoxidil is a growth stimulant so if you have a fair amount of loss, the drugs are best combined.

As for nizoral, studies have shown that it increased hair count and hair diameter. It definitely helps keep the scalp clean and can thicken hair as I mentioned with "hair diameter".

Just from looking at your HLH pictures I can tell you that you are most likely going to need both finasteride and rogaine. I would just start both at once after talking to a doctor. finasteride will not give you the regrowth that you need, it may not even give you any. minoxidil should give you some, and there's no real point to using minoxidil without finasteride since minoxidil doesn';t stop the balding process like finasteride does.

Edit: Never mind I see you're already on both. You have a good regimen there. Good luck

Thanks for the reply, yeah here is my current regimen:
Propecia 1mg/day since 2002
nizoral as of 1.3.06, 3x Week
Foam as of 1.5.06, 2x Day
Alternating several shampoos since 1.5.06
Maxi-Hair (MSM) since 1.13.06
Horny Goat Weed since 1.13.06

I'm very happy with the progress so far, my hair just looks better for a start. I will take pictures once a month for the next year and posting them. Moving my finasteride to the evening helped me feel less foggy during the day.

Oh and currently (5 years Propecia, 39 yrs old), finasteride was not doing much for my crown.

Currently it seems like the crown looks like it has some fuzz and my hairline is taking a small hit. I see you guys talk about shedding so I'm expecting it, but for the last two weeks I've seen maybe one hair a day.

Do you take Horny Goat Weed to counter libido sides? Does it work for you?

It's been a couple of weeks, but I think I have increased libido.

How is Maxi-Hair working out for you? Do you think its a worthwhile addition to your regime?

Cheers.

I'm thinking yes, because my hair and nails are growing faster than normal, and I can't attribute that to anything else.

I was looking at the crown again this morning (no surprise there), and I like what I am seeing. Between the thicker healthier look of my hair, and what seems to be some small hairs growing in, the top looks way better than 1.5 months ago. I'm betting when I take my next month pics we will see a big difference.
