which base?

Hi all, i have a three inch bald spot behind my hairline in the left temple region and have decided to get a hairpiece and cut it at home in sections so i can fill in that area, my first question is which is the best base that is undetectable to do this, iv'e been reading up on the variaty of them but without seeing them for myself its hard to tell, no where near me does this kind of thing so i am gona send away for a piece.
The bald area is where i would normally part my hair so it would be exposed, so glue or tape in this small area would be an issue also.
