Minoxidil user for 6 months, havent noticed any benifit. I Started finasteride 2 months ago. Finasteride has been destroying my hair. Worsening temple recession and diffuse thinning my scalp. I never had a scalp problem pre- finasteride. Considering just quitting finasteride and doing minoxidil and dermarolling only. finasteride is causing me to shed everywhere including eyebrows and side of my head. I think finasteride has boosted male pattern baldness into overdrive for me, I'm shedding triple the amount of hairs on finasteride.

First pic is 2 months ago days before starting finasteride. That is the only pic I can find as reference since my hair was near perfect at that point and didn't take many pics

There has to be something else at play, there is no way finasteride should do that. I don't see how finasteride could worsening it that much that fast. Minoxidil shed probably be my guess....wag more likely to cause that type of she'd ...hope you figure it out man ....

Hey Matt, made a similar experience...Im diffusing for 2 years now. Loosing hairs everywhere..sides, on top, eyebrows, even legs. I went to a lot of doctors, got my blood tested and everything. Unfortunately without any results. 6 month ago, i tried finasteride and after just a few weeks my shedding even increased. I lost around 300-400 hair a day. I hopped off finasteride and the shedding decreased slightly. Im still loosing 100-200 hairs a day.
I would really like to help you or give you any advice, but i guess some people are just screwed.
Anyway all the best, bro!

Also i think your hair looks still not bad.

My big minoxidil shed was in the summer which I recovered from mostly. My hair was generally stable around the time I started finasteride. Still was losing about 100 hairs a day but after finasteride it has been about 300 hairs everywhere

I don't even see a problem based off your first pic (pre-treatment). Your hair is thin on your sides and the top is questionable in the second pic (pre-treatment). I am going to assume that you seen a professional that was absolutely sure that you have male pattern baldness before starting treatment.

At the very least you need to get your DHT, total/free T levels checked. Your doctor really should do a full hormone panel.

I am not saying to do this, but I know that I would stop taking finasteride until I see my doctor and wait for his/her recommendation.

Ok, be sure to get tons of mineral sulfur in the diet. Sulfur is needed by the body to produce keratin a fibrous protein that develops hair. Also, make sure you're getting enough zinc its important for hair follicle developing and cycling. Chances are you could be eating grains and legumes high in phytic acids which binds and deplete zinc from the body. Eating more sprouted and soaked foods will help counter that. Moringa leaves are high in sulfur and spirulina is high in zinc. Both contain no phytic acids.

I did see a derm and she prescribed finasteride. She barely checked my scalp and I didnt take any tests. I had some thinning on my hairline and crown which u cant see in the first pic because it is dark lighting. I thought finasteride would fill in those areas and stop my shedding. I almost feel like i didnt have true male pattern baldness and now finasteride has screwed up my hormones and put me in a telogen effluvium state

Yeah, see a doctor. Unless you have alot of minisutration going on and finasteride is kicking them all out to start thickening them....I don't see finasteride doing that....

Yeah def something going on with your hormones and hair cycles then. Go to your go or find a new derm, hopefully they can figure it out.

Moms side has zero hairloss. My dad is probably a norwood 3 or 4 but he's also 55 so that's understandable. I don't think his hairloss started until he was 40

Yeah thats pretty odd. The rate your going at makes it seem like you will surpass your 55 year old dad in a few more years.

I also just quit finasteride recently after 7 months. So far im shedding about the same amount of hairs as before. Maybe a little bit more at max.

I think 1 mg or 1.25 maybe a bit much for some people as well and causes more she'd if it's not tolerated well.....I honestly think .25 - .50 for first 6 months should be the norm for people. ....Japan studies show .25 to be the perfect doasage.

I dropped my dose from 1mg to .50 a few weeks ago. I might be shedding slightly less hair on .50 but it's hard to tell. Still shed tons of good hair
