Where can I apply Minoxidil on my hair?

I was wondering, can I apply minoxidil anywhere on my hair and expect it to work? Because the box says to only apply on the crown of the head, but most of my hair thinning is in the front area of my hair. Thanks

The box says only for the vertex but this is because the FDA trials were only tested on the crown. minoxidil should in theory work just as well on the hairline. It probably isn't totally as effective as on the crown, because the hairline tends to be more sensitive to androgens than the crown.

Thank you for the reply. I also have a receding hairline, so you're saying that I can reverse at least some of the receding hairline by apply minoxidil straight on my skin (at the top of my forehead where my hairline would be if it wasn't receding)?

probably not reverse it, but slow it down. If you are a great responder you can reverse it a little. If you hope to reverse it you will need finasteride in combination with your minoxidil. Also, hair will not grow out of a totally bald temple. These treatments will only regrow miniaturized hairs into normal sized ones. To apply it you want to apply the liquid or foam and rub it into your scalp with your fingers quite aggressively over the entire thinning area. I typically only recommend finasteride first as an initial line of attack for treatment, and only add minoxidil if you seek as much regrowth as possible. They really work best together. minoxidil alone only works for a small amount of people, and the benefits do not last forever.
