Hell yes. Take a picture of a female friend from an above angle or your gfs scalp if she will let you. Most women have decent heads of hair (thin hair or not we will assume they are not experiencing androgenetic alopecia - though its actually fairly common to a degree in women)
but with a flash (especially as close as someone doing a self shot) it should show a bit of scalp. How much is a more difficult question...

The strange thing with me is when I take a picture of my crown I can see my scalp but only in the Swirly marks area? some people have a swirl on the top and I have 2 of them so I can see my scalp even worse because of it.

Take into account that a flash bulb is an incredibly bright light going off mere inches from your head. Not very realistic settings and unless you purposely go around showing off the pics, no ones ever going to see your head in those kind of conditions in real life.

Try holding a camera to your eye and taking a picture of it with a flash. Unaturally bright and unaturally painful.

Depends on the length of your hair and logically how much scalp you are actually seeing.
