When To Start Mindoxil? Does Tolerance Exist?

Hi guys

I’m just about to hit 20 and I have quite a noticeable receded hairline. I feel alright about it as i’ve had a very similar hairline, give or take 10% since I was 15.

However, now I’m in my 20s I know that the big bald could start really at anytime as my dad started to thin quite early. What i’d like advice on is whether I should start mindoxil now, even if it’s just a premptive measure. I know the hassle it can be and the cost but it’s not really these factors that concern me.

I’ve heard rumours about ‘tolerance’ and ‘resistance’ that people can acquire with regain and I’m corncened that maybe I’m jumping the gun. If this is true, would I perhaps be endangering my ability to keep my hair until 30 with mindoxil by starting this early, when maybe I could start In 2/3 years? Or is all that ‘tolerance’ stuff a load of crap and consistent use will hold stuff back indefinitely?

I’ve uploaded some pics of my current situation

Thanks for your replies!

Minoxidil is usually best for gaining hair, but it does nothing to inhibit DHT which if left unchecked will continue to weaken your hair follicles despite minoxidil.

If you want to prevent baldness, which you seem to be in the perfect position to do so, my best advice is to start finasteride. Your hair is actually quite similar to mine; I noticed slight thinning and jumped on it when I was 19. I’m about to be 28 and I have lost little if any hair. I don’t have the best genetics either with my father losing all of his hair when he was in his early 20s.

Hands down, starting finasteride was the best decision I have made. I personally have no experience with minoxidil, but the constant shedding which I hear is common, not to mention the constant unyielding daily application has prevented me from using that as well. Propecia on the other hand is super easy. Just a pill a day (and to be honest I feel like I miss doses all the time to where my year prescription usually runs a few months over). I’ve had zero side effects and even approaching 30 now, most people say I have incredible hair. I don’t think anyone would guess I’m on an AA

Hi man thanks for your reply

Isn’t finestride quite expensive comparatively though? I’m a student at the moment and not sure I can realistically commit to that financially. I read that although finestirde is clearly better than mindoxil, mindoxil is great at maintaining hair you already have which I would be content with

I mean not really. I get generic and it’s about $30 for a 3 month supply. It’s actually cheaper than minoxidil.

I used to pay a lot more, but generic costs have dropped a lot. Also shop around. There’s a website that give out coupon codes at specific pharmacies and I just go to those
