Although it's reviews are great, I'm somewhat cautious of it's side effects and want to wait for the FDA's approval. Will it be soon? within a year? 5 years?

"Dutasteride has been shown to decreases levels of DHT by 90% after only two weeks, making it a potentially more powerful and faster acting treatment for hair loss than finasteride.

After a six month treatment regime, hair counts in a 1 inch diameter circle increased by an average 96 hairs with 0.5mg dutasteride daily, compared to an average 72 hairs with 5mg finasteride daily.

This puts dutasteride 30% more effective than finasteride for promoting hair regrowth. "

It most likely will never will be approved for hair loss. They cancelled phase 3 FDA trials twice already back in 2002.
The rumor is that "Glaxo's management does not think that Dutasteride will be able to be sufficiently differentiated from Propecia in the consumers mind to make the drug significantly profitable". Quoted from HLH.
