I am 27 years old, have very little hairloss possibly nothing more than a 'mature' hairline yet I started finasteride at the beginning of the year anyway. Anyway, when I used to buzz my hair to a 4 I always noticed a small area without any hair and figured it was just a scar or whatever. Earlier this week I buzzed to a 1, and its apparent that I have quite a few areas of scalp without hair growing, mostly on the sides yet some on the back too.
After googling I thought it might be ring worm or possibly alopecia areata? However most of the pics I saw looked nothing like mine but rather large chunks of hair missing. I have had dandruff for years now, nothing excessive but a fair amount of dead skin falls when I rub my scalp so maybe that is related? I am an engineering student and am pretty stressed out a lot of the time with a very spotty sleep pattern so perhaps that might be a cause? I saw a trichologist a few years ago to confirm I had hairloss and she remarked I had lots of areas where hair wasn't growing and put it down to stress, bad diet and an irregular sleep pattern. I totally disregarded anything she said considering she went on to try and sell me natural DHT lowering remedies and went as far to say like rogaine and finasteride were outright scams and don't work (yeah I know right, disgusting).
Anyway, any thoughts? I am seeing a derm when I can afford too.
