I was just wondering how to differentiate between a maturing hairline and an early receding hairline. I personally think I have a maturing hairline based on my age and fortunate genetics however I found it very confusing as it isn't overly clear what a maturing hairline is. If a more experienced member could explain that would be a massive help:)

Based on what I have read is that a “mature hairline” is recession that will stop for many years (but often starts up again eventually). Thing is that it’s hard to tell if/when it will continue to recede and or if it’s just progressive male pattern baldness. You can look for miniaturization to see if you are actively receding. Diffuse thinning is also a bad sign.

I think generally the best options are to see a reputable hairloss specialist or to just take pictures every 6 months to monitor the recession. If you have diffuse thinning it’s already likely balding
