OK so I started going bald probably about 4 years ago at age 23. At least that's when I started to take note of it. Wondering what my norwood is now and what else I can expect. Also anyone have estimates for how many follicles I'd need transplanted if I went that route to atlas fix frontal balding?
Edit* read through some other post figured I should add more info:
I've never seen a doctor for my balding, considering going soon though even though it's probably too late. The balding came in pretty quickly during first and second year. Last few years have been slower but still shed quite a bit till I started trying to tackle this a bit better.
I've seen others post about stress so I'll throw that in. I didn't start balding until after a wreck I had where air bags didn't go off and I literally bent a steering wheel around my forehead. I was pretty introvert after that/depressed. Played many of computer games during that time for days on end with headset headphones right about where I'm balding(just throwing that in there dunno if any of this helped me bald or not)
Also neither of my parents have balding or receding hair, only one I know in my family is my uncle, and I don't think his us as bad as mine. (Saw someone post about genes so figured I'd add that in there)
I'm at the point (been there for a while) where I'm expecting to lose all hair in front and probably around crown but my question is should I expect the middle hair part to go as well? How long do I got before full cul-de-sac?
I tried minoxidil for about a month probably 3 months ago but didn't stick with it/ really get serious about it.
I've since started my own "natural" regiment I guess you could say and feel I've had minor improvements. Probably the first time I've taken this head on and stayed consistent though too. Here is what I've been doing:
Eating slightly better
Drinking 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
Lathering scalp in sesame oil
Drinking much more water
Taking men's 1 a days
Being a bit more active doing pushup sit ups
Taking fish oil
Doing a half assed self acupuncture with a needle to "stimulate"
Using cooler water during shower
*Also quit smoking commercial cigarettes and started rolling my own- I doubt this has any effect but figured I'd throw it in too since I started this about same time as everything else*
Haven't seen much in terms of regrowth though a few new hairs in front of my receding line have popped up but maybe they were cut during shaving not 100%
In terms of shedding it has deff slowed if not stopped. I used to be able to see about 10-20 hairs in sink if I rubbed my head and now I'm only seeing maybe 1-5 if none at all.
Don't know if this helps with anything but I grow a shitload of backhair still lol, and my facial hair seems to come in good.
Any suggestions on what else I could maybe do? Would propecia help my frontal balding at all? Should I wait longer before thinking about hair transplant?
Bleh balding sucks.
