hi all

im wanting to come off the spectral as i feel its giving me a bloated / puffy face and dark circles / wrinkles around my eyes. ive been using it for over a year now with limited sucess but only recently seem to have noticed these problems.

im on propecia now for about 4 months with great results and am wondering if coming off spectral will cause some of the hair ive gained from propecia to be lost ?

also can anyone recommend something that doesnt contain minoxidil to use as a topical treatment - ive seen lots of stuff mentioned on the forums and to be honest im confused ! has anything that doesnt contain minoxidil been proven to work ?

many thanks

jus

Hmmm. I've tried revivogen and it did not make any difference. Never tried Spectral RS - so have you tried that? No minoxidil.

Puffy face etc? I suggest you go and see a doctor than making assumptions. Sometimes, lack of sleep, too much caffeine, stress can cause the above. Too much alcohol too. Not to forget, not using moisturiser around the eyes.

So if you are worried, see a doctor.

cheers for the reply - im pretty sure that minoxidil is the cause of the puffy face etc , i dug out a photo taken about 2 years ago before i started using spectral and i look so different its wierd !

in the photo i look a lot slimmer in the face and dont have any dark circles etc.
obviously ive aged a few years so will look different but i feel i look a lot worse now and my skin seems to have aged dramatically ...

another reason i want to stop the spectral is the cost - its expensive at £ 30 a month and i dont think it does much to be honest ...

thank you !

forgot to add - always used top quality face and eye cream so dont think thats a problem...

I forgot, minoxidil is used to treat high blood pressure and hence, lowers blood pressure.

So, the following are the side effects of minoxidil:

Seek medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

* dry cough, sharp or stabbing chest pain;
* chest pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;
* trouble breathing (especially while lying down);
* swelling in your legs, ankles, or feet;
* rapid weight gain of 5 pounds or more;
* fast or pounding heartbeats;
* sudden numbness, weakness, headache, confusion, or problems with vision, speech, or balance;
* fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash;
* the first sign of any skin rash, no matter how mild;
* easy bruising or bleeding; or
* feeling like you might pass out.

Less serious side effects may include:

* nausea, vomiting;
* breast pain or tenderness; or
* changes in the color, length, or thickness of body or facial hair.
