What to expect from propecia?

Hello everyone
I've just turned 24 and have been losing my hair since I was 22. I have thinning on the front and the crown area. I have enough hair to comb and hide these thinning areas. But if there's a lot of wind/lights around, these thinning areas become visible. Hope you get the picture. I first noticed hair thinning back in Aug 2012 and was on minoxidil until December 2013 and then started propecia (1mg finasteride) in January 2014 after tremendous amounts of research fearing side effects. As of today, I've completed 4 months and 3 weeks on propecia and I can confidently say my hair have become thicker at the front although the crown isn't responding that well.
I wanted to know how much more improvement can I realistically expect from propecia? I haven't seen any regrowth yet. Also with propecia, can I get my hair looking like what they used to be maybe 2-3 years back? I understand that everyone is different but I'd really like some input here. In 2011, my hair were really nice and thick and even until early 2012. Hope I didn't start propecia too late. Some input would be really helpful.

Many thanks guys!

you can expect to maintain your hair and possibly get some moderate regrowth. A fraction will still lose their hair although it will happen slower. Peak results occur at 2 years then hair counts typically fall extremely slow and I believe half of people will still be above baseline at 5 years. By 10 years or so your hair loss may start to pick up again or it may not but if it does you can consider whatever other treatments are available at that time. You have only been taking finasteride for 5 months and still probably have the best results ahead of you as the next 6 months or so is likely to be where any possible regrowth will occur.

You may also experience a few common sides: low libido, watery semen, erections that are hard but not as hard as before, gynecomastia (aka b**ch tits)..

Some other not so common sides: high libido, occasional erectile dysfunction while taking propecia, premature ejaculation, brain fog

You may experience permanent erectile dysfunction even after you stop propecia but that is the rarest side effect, only 2% of people get it after using propecia long term 1 year + .. But if u ask me, in my humble opnion its just not worth the risk lol

Even the ones i listed as "common" sides are likely not to strike u all at once, most people get 1 of them and sometimes they wear off after a few weeks of using propecia..

2% get permanent erectile dysfunction where did you get that number straight out your ***? placebo groups consistently have the same occurrence of permanent ED as finasteride groups. People just get ED naturally it is not caused by finasteride (at least not permanently)

The incidence of this happening isn't known. According to the studies roughly 5% of people have any sexual side effect. This goes away upon quitting within 1 - 3 weeks after treatment. The breakdown of the 5% is 2% Erectile Dysfunction, 2% smaller volume of ejaculate, and 2% lowered libido. So basically most men have 1 to 2 out of the 3 of those side effects. Reports of persisting erectile dysfunction were made by an uncontrolled population. No one knows if these men were predisposed, were taking other medication, ordered who knows what online, or simply made the stories up. I'm not sure finasteride even causes this if at all. The internet is as free as the wild west. Don't trust what you read on here. As far as propeciahelp goes these men are of a certain sort. They are the kind of guys to freak out about every little thing that happens to them and look it up online and get convinced they are dying of cancer or that they have the bubonic plague. These men need to stop logging into the black hole that is called propecia help and get outisde and get some fresh vitamin D and live their lives. Bald or not who cares. Propecia/Finasteride is a safe way for many men to hold onto their hair. For some maybe even permanently. I can think of many motives why people would want to scare you away from it. 1st) They are bald and want others to join them. 2) They have hair and want to feel superior to those without hair and don't want there to be a cure. 3) They have another hair loss product they want to shill. Can anyone think of more reasons?
