Hello. I am a 34 year old male in England.
In May 2008 I noticed my hair was thinning at the crown. I immediately went on properia (which has since become proscar cut into quarters). I also use nizoral shampoo 2-3 times a week and Alpecin (which I'm not sure about) every day I don't use nizoral.
I tried minoxidil twice and had to come off it twice due to chest pains - which is a common side-effect as I understand it. I know that minoxidil is really good and I know it's the only thing that can regrow hair, but chest pains are not worth the risk over hair loss as far as I am concerned, so it's just not an option for me. I know this is a big loss however. I also had to quit minoxidil during a shed which is also a bit of a disaster.
So with my current regime I am just a tiny bit more advanced in my hair loss than when I first noticed thinning back in 2008.
I am wondering where to go next. It is clear that my hair has deteriorated over the last 6 months which is a worry. I'm also not convinced by Alpecin. I am not seeing a huge improvement.
I know that the more advanced hair loss is the harder it is to treat and so while I still have a covering of hair everywhere I need to get on top of this. I know that without minoxidil I probably wont see much regrowth, but if I can halt the hair loss where it is or maybe just regrow a little, that will be a good result as far as I'm concerned.
So, I have a question for you guys:
What should I add to my regime??
(please don't say minoxidil - I know how effective it it, but I wont go there)
