What to do for early signs of male pattern baldness

Hello! I'm 18 and just discovered my hairline moving back a bit and receding (very minor for now). I've always watched my hairline since both grampas, 2 out of 3 brothers and my father all have male pattern baldness. Both brothers started at 18 as well.

I was wondering what your opinion on the best action to take? The hairloss seems to be pretty aggressive, I can see a difference from a month ago. Lots of baby hair on the front and two indents where the hair is moving back (on both sides, front)). The crown is slightly thinner but not noticeable at all.

So what should a male pattern baldness newbie like me do? Pills, Shampoos, Creams, etc? I would like to keep my hair for as long as possible, not just slow the hairloss down.

Thanks a million!! :punk:

well look out for the front hairs turning blonde and less pigmented

that is usually a sign for miniaturization

you can also inspect the hair you loose in the shower
if the hair is fairly short and has a tapered end on the opposite side of the bulb
means that the growing cycle is shortening
eventually leading to miniaturization

but since your brother experienced male pattern baldness at 18 and your noticing thinning in the crown
i would suggest possibly considering the use of Finasteride for maintenance and possibly regrowth
18 is the earliest time you can start this drug
it isn't always recommended for 18 year olds because your body usually isnt fully developed/matured at 18

i hope this helps

cheers mate

Thanks! I already suspected I had male pattern baldness but I am seeing a specialist tomorrow. Will the specialist be able to tell if I have male pattern baldness 100%? Or will he/she just be judging on the looks of my hair? It's not very noticeable to others' but I have been watching my hair because of my family history. I don't want to get misdiagnosed because I think if I catch it early I can take care of the problem.

Thank you
