ALSO, do you use a conditioner?

Head and Shoulders clinical solutions itch shampoo once a week, and once a week Nizoral. I had problem with dandruff for like 15 years. Nothing worked until i found this itch shampoo. Now no more dandruff.

I think the hair loss community should gather as much info on the basics such as shampoo first before moving on to more extreme measures. I'm sure most don't even know what to look for in a shampoo, the ingredients it shouldn't contain, etc

Well to block DHT you need Nizoral shampoo because it has 1% keto. If you want 2% than you need prescription or order it on eBay from Canada. I believe they are not required to get prescription to buy 2% keto shampoo.

Than there is also Regenepure DR shampoo which technically should be a little better than Nizoral shampoo because it has no sulfates. But it's also twice more expensive.

Unfortunately, there is no shampoo that really works as a hair loss treatment. Ketoconazole shampoo has some research backing, but it is still much, much less effective as a hair loss treatment than finasteride. Finasteride and its stronger alternative Dutasteride are the only things currently available that have been proven to work well for hair loss.

Does it typically take many months to see any result from finasteride?

It usually takes between six months and a year to see a visible difference. Some guys see a difference in only three months, as was the case for me but I was using dutasteride rather than finasteride. Patience is very important when using finasteride because it does take several months for the visible results to show.

I use t-gel shampoo and viviscal gorgeous growth conditioner, t-gel helps with scalp problems without being too harsh on my hair, nizoral used to fry it even with conditioner.
