What % of early male pattern baldness sufferers actually seek treatment?

I was just thinking about this the other day. For those who have their male pattern baldness set in during their late teens to early twenties, and there seems to be more and more in this group.

What percentage would you say actually go on forums like these and get on treatments like finasteride and minoxidil? Do we represent the majority of young male pattern baldness suffereres or the minority.

I've seen many thinning guys in their early 20's at school and even know a few of them. Very few of them seem to be borthered by hairloss.
They just seem to accept it and move on.

Most people don't seem to as concerned as I am (excluding this board). Most people really don't seem to do anything about male pattern baldness. At least to me, I would say that us on this forum are in the vast minority.

I think most people just deny its existence until the point they think its too late to do anything meaningful. I mean, seriously, once you pass norwood 3 I think men are just kididng themselves and the person is "considered" a bald type of person.

I also believe people really aren't aware of all the treatments out there. And if they are, they make think they are along the lines of some fake snake oil concoction.

I think those people you see who are thinning might care just as much or more than you...its hard to tell if someone cares or not. I mean when youre out in public do you think you act like you care you are thinning? Do you think people look at you and say he looks like he really cares about his hairloss....i dont think you can really tell if someone is bothered by hairloss.. unless you know them personally, maybe not even then

yeah fallout boy that's a good point and I agree with you. I mean when I am out I act normal even though hairloss is killing me inside.

but I've asked friends who are thinning and they told me that it doesn't bother them and that they are not planning on getting on any treatments.

well,
I think we are those unlucky 20% who experience male pattern baldness in the 20s.

The internet has brought a revolution. I am sure if websites like HairLossTalk.com.com were not there...most of us would just accept our fate and continue to bald.

Seriously..websites like HairLossTalk.com.com are so helpful and provide so good knowledge.

On the other hand...most people DO care about their hairloss...but nothing dramatic has come out yet. There is no cure.

Finasteride works for majority of people but it cannot grow hair on a bald man and give him a 16 yo hairline. its not even sure how long finasteride works for as its been only 8 yrs since this pill has been used for hairloss.

I think we are the minority of the balding population who seek help and are trying to do something abt it.

i've read an article ( i forgot where) that says that somethign like 95% of people suffering from hairloss are concerned about it. I was VERY fortunate to have an aunt thats a dermatologist and told my mom about the treatments..otherwise I would have been one of those that just go on doing nothing. As far as people telling you that theyre not bothered by it....PA_LEASE!! I say that all the time, but only because i want to appear confident. I can however, safely say, that as you get older, it becomes less of an issue. When i was younger (and had enough hair to make it look like I wasnt going bald) I was more depressed about it than I am now. So, it probably gradually improves with age.
