What Norwood?

I have been using finasteride for 7 months now. My hair overall has become much better. Its the front hairline and temples i m worry about. I also used min on the temples for 6 months then discontinued bcoz of the severe itching......i m 20y/o my hairline from the centre has always been high and hasnt receeded much in the middle..wat do you guys think? How bad is it?
I personally feel that whenever i take pictures of my esp. of hairline it looks better then it actually is. May b bcoz of the angle or may be its in my head.. ANyhow, What Norwood am I?

Wow now this line was comforting for me... No i m pretty sure that i m balding...Sadly.. Men on both sides of the family are almost Norwood 6..My father is Norwood 5 and my bro who is 3 years older than me has significant diffuse thinning...i had somewhat diffuse thinning as well...But i think finasteride took care of that....You shud check out my story by the name DHTvictim's story...i havent updated it with new pics but i plan on doing it next month....And also i think that the pics dont come as bad as it actually is...

I think you have recession and it looks very similar to mine, in the sense that the whole hairline is just going back in one peace so it looks like a large forehead.

It looks like a NW1, but in reality your losing hair at a slow pace. Its a difficult pattern to comprehend in my opinion. Im on dutasteride and finasteride but im in the early stage aswell so its just slowing it down. I have minoxidil but havent tried it yet. Did you feel it made any impact at stopping loss?

I m pretty sure that the middle of my hairline as i have pics of mine when i was 15 and people always commented on it that you are balding...But the temples are extremly thin... My hairline is thin in V shaped...This angle is not very good i think ...As for minoxidil it may have given me some regrowth on the temples but it was very hard to bear that itch...In my opinion finasteride is the best...It made my hairs much much better overall....I m posting another pic in which my hairs are dry and the thin hairs of the hairline are left out ...Now what do you guys think???

A better way is to look at the temple points. Like for instance, if your temples do not line up with your sideburns, then you are still an NW1, but if they do you are an NW2, more than that then you are becoming an NW3.

Also, what type of minoxidil were you using? (foam, liquid)

In my opinion it does not look that bad, when you take a picture from that angle it always makes your forehead looks bigger than it is.

Thnx obsidian for that temple point..I was using liquid..Now i think may b i will use it again but only on the temple regiom....well with your point i think i am a Norwood 1 if i consider the thin hairs at my temple to be a hairline and if i dont then i m a 2...are temples naturally thin in some??

Are the temples thin in some areas? Depends how long the hair is. If you can try and get it through the mail or not. I would try the rogaine (regaine?) foam as it dries quicker and makes your hair less greasy. I am going to decide whether to use this in May when I will have been using propecia for a year.

Well thats good to know...Because i always thought i was no less than NW2.5 because my hair line foms a "V" .... well it makes my forehead really big but thanks to finasteride now i can style my hair in a way no one can tell.....only if i can maintain this for 5 to 7 or so years i will be extremly happy...anyway its also been only 6 and a half months on finasteride ....i hope things will get better iupto the 12th month mark...I wrote 7 months update in my story but its actually been 6 and a half months( just checked the date in my diary).....Anyhow thanks for the replies guys ...... Love this site.....

NW2.5???

You're not really even into 1.5 land until you can see chunks of hair literally missing out of your hairline in the corners. And the most tell-tale sign is those areas where hair used to be becoming really shiny. That's why bald dudes have shiny heads.
