A dermatologist, ideally, would know more about hair, but that is rarely the case anymore, so you can get the script from any doctor.

I can really get a Proscar perscription from an ordinary doctor or dermatologist specifically for hair loss? I was worried that I'd have to search far and wide for a kind doctor who would stretch rules to allow that. You're saying most of them will actually do it?
