What is wrong with a comb over?

Comb-overs do not work when you have major male pattern baldness. When all the hair on top is gone and you pull the sides over, it looks bad. But I'm talking for very mild receding hairlines? Its just covering up the problem area until you can get it improved. It doesn't have to look bad either. Its a way to make the hair look more even. Most of what people call "comb overs" is simply parting you hair over to the side. It was a traditional haircut for many years for men with plenty of hair had them as well.

Why do people frown on them so much? Why is considered such a deadly sin? I would rather comb it over to make it look nicer than just let that bald spot show.

A well done comb-over should look great, when hair loss is minor and does not look one bit as if you're trying to hide nor cover something. Of course obviously, comb-overs will never work well if you're suffering from severe hair loss.

That's when true style comes in, when something looks completely effortless.

A NW2-3 comb over that gives you the appearance of a NW1 (or simply conceals your hairloss is fine. A Homer Simpson NW4 or beyond comb over on the other hand looks ridiculous. People have come to associate comb overs with geriatric men with barely any hair.

They dont look good because the people who usually do them really don't have any idea how to make something look good because they are usually old.
