What Is The Outlook, After A Year And A Half On finasteride With No Improvement?

I have been on finasteride for 18 months. Had very thin hair to begin with, and aggressive diffuse loss with receding hairline. I keep my hair at 0.5 mm at all times because of the thinning.

I never expected much from finasteride honestly, just some minor thickening so that I can maintain a close buzzcut throughout my youth. I am 26 by the way, and I'm doing all I can to survive my suicidal thoughts.

So, I have lost some hair on my temples... They look just a little more sparse than baseline. The rest looks the same. I think I have maintained. The ups and downs are too minor to notice... If that has happened at all. I can't even be sure if my hair ever changed.

I have some super thin,barely visible when standing close to the mirror on my temples. But I don't think it is new regrowth.... Also it scares me to say this.... I've been on minoxidil for almost three years. Maybe the baby hair is because of that... I hope not though.... I hope not... I hope that it can improve.

I have a bad habit of going to the bathroom tens of times a day in the office to check my hairline... It's a silent cancer that's crushing my soul. I honestly am depressed too...but I don't take the drugs because I heard it can interfere with efficacy of finasteride.

Please tell me what u guys think... Can the thin, barely visible (invisible under bright light) ever thicken? I think I need some thickening of these hair and I'll be happy. Like I said, I never expected any significant regrowth.

My plan is to stay on it for 6 more months till the 2 year mark..

Other option is to dutasteride up if you're losing ground on finasteride

Minoxidil is great for growing those fine/non terminal hairs. If all my non terminal hairs that minoxidil has sprouted for me would go terminal I would be a nw1.

I have been on it for nearly 3 years... I'm not a very good responder to minoxidil I guess.

You know guys, I honestly think it is the hope of at least some improvement.... Just minor v thickening on my temples so that I can sport a hairline .... That's what's keeping me alive

What Norwood are you? I am 3 or 3.5 I guess...very thin almost invisible hair in that region.
If I could have these hair thicken up, I would be a solid Norwood 2
