What Is The Correct Finasteride Dosage? Should I Increase?

Hi my name is Mike and this is the first time posting on here, but been following for awhile. Anyways, I am 26 and have been taking finasteride since I was 21. For some reason (and lack of knowledge) I’ve been taking a full 5 mg tablet. During this time, it’s done a pretty good job of maintaining my hair, but a few months ago I noticed my hair was thinning out. So I got on dutasteride and I could swear it made my hair loss progress so fast (losing hairline more than before) so I got off dutasteride and back on finasteride but I haven’t recovered the lost hair. I’m assuming that within the four months without finasteride, there was no protection against hair loss progression? I’m sorry this post is so long, but my main question is do you think I should go back on a 5mg tablet per day since it’s helped keep my hair in the past or is it overkill and maybe I should take a half tablet instead? Thank you for any input and again I apologize for the length.

Lol I know that it’s a typical response, but like I said, I got on dutasteride after my hair was thinning out more. However, I didn’t have nearly the loss on my hairline as I did in the 4 months on dutasteride...so idk

You were taking 5mg of Finasteride per day and were thinning and then taking Duasteride and still thinned out. Pictures are very helpful as observations alone usually do not cut it.

I would take Finasteride 1-5mg (since you already were taking that amt and were fine) and consider adding Minoxidil+Nizoral.and possibly LLLT (such as iRestore). You can also take 1mg of Finasteride and use a topical Minoxidil+Finasteride combination. There are other more experimental things out there that are topicals such as RU, CB, Seti, etc. all are more expensive and have less evidence and are still in the process of being approved by the FDA (other than RU).

5mg of finasteride at 21 is pretty dangerous man. Did you have any sexual sides?

I heard Nizoral can cause hair loss? Or is it only 2%?

To be honest man, it does cause me to have watery semen (thick but watery, if that makes any sense) and less powerful ejacualtions, but it never really got to the point where it was outweighing the benefits of finasteride. But in retrospect, I wish I started taking 1 mg right off the bat, but my doctor and I didn’t really do the proper research
