I see people balding on the norwood scale. I see people having temple recession. I see people thinning at the crown. I see diffuse thinners. All patterns in hairloss that you can follow, treat, and monitor.

But what in the f*** is this:

Am I on the norwood scale? Is this diffuse thinning? Has anyone seen this style of male pattern baldness? How is it gonna progress?

I've been on 0.25mg finasteride for 16 days so far.

Appreciate any thoughts.

I'm no expert but almost looks like female pattern hairloss, though it's usually not that wide of a part.

Could it be due to some sort of vitamin deficiency? I think that's one of the main things that impact women.

Usually hair loss related to things like a vitamin deficiency don't follow a set pattern and are more diffused (since your sides look fine). But again, I'm no doctor (and neither is anyone else on this forum), book an appointment with a dermatologist and they'll order blood work if they deem it necessary.

The norwood scale isn't really scientific, it's just a "reference scale" so to speak. You have some diffusal thinning along with crown thinning but it looks weird because your hair is longer.

Come back in 3-4 months and you should have some improvement, if not you may have to up your dose. Good luck!

Thanks, I can say that since starting finasteride, I am no longer shedding and the itchy scalp has completely gone.

My scalp in the crown and vertex area used to itch like a mofo, sometimes would keep me from falling asleep. It was completely gone about a week and a half into finasteride. I'm taking that as a good sign.

if you cut your hair short you would see the horseshoe and thin crown, nothing special friend

My hairline is pretty solid, when I pull the hair back it is difficult to detect any horseshoe temple recession.

It's just the density of my hair is oddly distributed.

I'm not denying a problem and I've been taking finasteride to address it, but it's been hard monitoring, since I can't predict the pattern it will follow. I've seen a lot of hair loss pics and none that look like this, it's frustrating to be cursed with male pattern baldness but also in a seemingly more unusual way.

This is probably the closest image i've found, but my hairline is maybe 10% as bad as that.

diffuse thinning... it hits me hardest in that pattern too. crown, midscalp, front. sides stay ok, but will thin soon as well. common pattern.

My hair looks like that maybe 9 years ago. It's still male pattern baldness. Good thing you still have hair on your top/crown. I unfortunately lost/shed a great amount all these years.
