are any of you currently taking Propecia or Proscar? if so, how long have you been taking it and how is it doing for you?

I ask this, because Ive decided to go on the pill, because my hairloss is getting worse and worse everyday, and I was reading that it was not alright for people with liver problems, now I was told that I have a "Fatty Liver", when I had my last check up

could this be a problem with taking Propecia? I wouldnt think so

Liver is not affected. It's a prostate drug that has very little to do with the liver.

I've been on it for 3 years, had some regrowth and total maintenance. No side effects.

indy - this is a question for your doctor, not a bunch of non physicians. Finasteride is heavily metabolized in the liver, so people with liver conditions should not take it. Please discuss getting liver enzyme tests via your family physician and request his input on whether it is safe for you to take it. Most likely he will let you, but will want to just monitor your liver enzyme levels every so often.

I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure that every drug you take will effect the liver in one way or another as the liver processes everything we put into our bodies. I have been looking at the leaflet that came with my Propecia and it doesn't mention anything about liver problems, but it does mention to tell your doctor about any other medical conditions before taking it.

As HairLossTalk.com says, it would be best to see your doctor. My dad had a really bad reaction in the liver after taking Bezalip tablets which are used to reduce cholesterol. His liver swelled up and he could hardly breath! I think he may have Fatty Liver as well.
