Okay, so I'm 23 years old and I've started to notice a little thinning at the crown and a bit of receding in the front, though all in all, its not very noticeable at all, and I would like to keep it that way! I would be extremely happy to keep the hair that I have now as it still does look very good. But I know that in a year or so, it will be far more noticable, so I need everyone opinion here so I can act fast.

What can I do in order to stop balding?

A few notes that you should consider before answering:

I am extremely prone to side effects when it comes to meds. I've heard some stories about about finasteride and am extremely hesitant to take it. I've taken Saw Palmetto before as a DHT-blocker and noticed a much lower sex drive, which scared me, so I immediately stopped taking it. I don't think I would trade my ability to achieve an erection for a stoppage in hair loss.

I would consider minoxidil. Would this help or slow down the balding process? What side effects have you guys experienced from it? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks very much.

Take finasteride if you get sides stop it and everything will be fine. You can add rogaine but will not stop your hair just will give you extra regrow for couple of years. Also add nizoral shampoo, it's also weak dht blocker but don't expect to save your hair. There are lot of treatments that can block your dht without serious sides like finasteride for example: spironolactone, ru, flutamide. But they aren't still enough proven for that, we still wait new dht blocker to show up that can save our hair without the sexual sides. Whatever you do good luck

I don't think there can be a DHT-inhibitor as strong as finasteride that won't give sides.. If DHT is inhibited at a certain level shouldn't you always get sides no matter what the medium is?
