-above the yellow line is filled in with little 1mm long hairs, making almost a second hairline; This grew in after I started taking vitamin D to correct a deficiency. Photo is probably too blurry to see em though.
-note: this is not where my original hairline was, it is below it. My original hairline was a lot higher

-in the pink circles are some of the little vitamin D hairs that got long after changing some eating habits.

-the pics of hair clumps are both 1 shower worth of hairfall. The bigger one is what was coming out when I tried to wash with only water most day, then a small amount of shampoo a couple times a week. The small clump is when I use apple cider vinegar, and use a large amount of shampoo.

-the front of my hairline hasn't changed yet. Only the temples, as well as the thinning that's happening to my whole head.

I've finally broken down and took some pictures of what's going on. My whole head is thinning. You can really see it on the pics of the sides. My whole head looks like that, even my sideburns. My hair is long so it might make it harder to see. But October 26th, 2017 my hair started shedding. Before that I had noticed a lot of dandruff and buildup after switching shampoos. My hair textured changed in a bad way all over and a few months after that, in October, it started shedding like mad.

I was diagnosed with telogen effluvium and seborrhoeic dermatitis, but my dermatologist wanted to do a biopsy to be sure. Well the biopsy came back normal. No fungus, no male pattern baldness (although obviously I have receded temples), and little sign of telogen effluvium. She said if it was tellogen effluvium then it would be nearly better according to the biopsy. But it's only gotten worse since then.

I don't know what to do. I tried rogain and ketoconazole shampoo, but it didn't work. The biggest difference is when I use apple cider vinegar, and maintain a certain diet.

I'm scared to go on finasteride, but I don't know what else to do. Anyone else have loss like this before? My hair used to be very thick. Could it be dandruff related?

Please go easy on me as this whole experience has really done a number on my confidence.

Sorry for the long post. Do you think the shedding is telogen effluvium? If it was my dermatologist said she thought it should start getting better. That was 1 week ago, but it hasn't slowed down at all yet. Should I jump on finasteride to be safe?

Idk man but if that large clump is after one shower, that’s a huge amount of hair.

Maybe get your thyroid checked? Thats known to cause hair loss.

Yea I did get it checked. My last dermatologist did a huge blood test. Only thing that came up abnormal was my bilirubin was high. Other then that everything was fine.

And I felt my hair getting gross and wiry the day before and the day leading up to that shower. It was like my hair was getting choked. After the apple cider vinegar and head and shoulders doesn't feel as bad.

There were times I would reach up, and literally pull out a whole curl. Like a giant chunk all at once.

i was shedding that much hair when i first started, it was plain old male pattern baldness. i wish i'd gotten on finasteride to stop it there and then rather than waiting till norwood 4, which is when girls started treating me drastically different.
don't know if it is male pattern baldness in your case but 99% of times hair loss in men is male pattern baldness

What if you’re on finasteride for 2 months and still shedding hard? I’m super below baseline and diffusing hard now. You reccomend sticking to it?

Hey man, can you tell me more about your Apple cider process? I'll try it if it will help. Thanks

Hey, I get a big mug, fill it with water, add a little apple cider vinegar, then go to my tub and pour it over my whole scalp. I leave it in for 30 minutes to an hour then wash it out in the shower.

Sorry I can't find the exact ratio and article I followed when starting it. If you do some digging on google you should be able to find it though.

Semi interesting update:

I took a good look at my scalp today in a double mirror. The thinnin has happened over the entire scalp. Top, sides, back, even side burns and donor area (although slightly less severe here then the rest of my head).

Yesterday I tried doing a double dose of apple cider vinegar. I did my normal rutine, then did it again right after. So one mug of diluted apple cider vinegar, left it for an hour, then did the same thing again.

As you can see even less hair came out. The pic from left to right- 1 wash vinegar lot of shampoo, same thing again, then the double vinegar wash with a good amount of shampoo. Weird there is such a giant difference.

Also I heard that black tea reduces DHT, so I started drinking black tea every day to see how my body reacts. Im just doing it to kinda test the waters for finasteride. I feel like if I start seeing some kind of negative change, that will be sign that I should probably stear clear of finasteride.

Is this from one day though? It would make sense that you lose less hair after multiple showers.

Thanks. I do see one issue. I have started to research something called hyperseborrhea, cause I think it might be part of my issue. I think my scalp was so dry for so long that the oils production ramped up like crazy. To now, where if I don't completely dry out my scalp my hair gets choked. This would explain why my sides are thinning even though they found so signs of male pattern baldness there. Keeping doing this cycle of drying out my scalp like crazy can't be good. I'm going to need to see a really good dermatologist to help me figure this out.

So, I was messing with different routines, and I was actually able to almost completely stop the shedding. I would do the apple cider vinegar wash, use head and shoulders shampoo only, no conditioner, and drink black tea every other day. After doing this the shedding almost stopped. At the end of the shower there were no hairs in the drain. Only a few would fall off.

The thing is I guess it was the caffeine or my hormones being effected or something cause my skin started to look real bad. It was discolored and patchy, super dry, lines looked more defined, and I broke out like I did in high school. So I stopped drinking the tea. My skin is clearing up a bit but the shedding is back. So close yet so far.

Also it still didn't reduce the shedding enough to where I could wear a hat again. My hair sheds like crazy after I wear a hat for a few hours. So I figured what's the point anyway. I'm still thinking about a full hair piece.

Yeah, it's a placebo.
