I began losing hair in the anterior about a month ago (late-July to early-August). I suspected that it might be a dietary supplement I was taking, so I stopped said-supplement and decided to wait it out. Hair loss was rapid and substantial, and continued at an incredible pace, even after cessation. I decided to see my primary physician after about a month of this.

Primary care and dermatologist were extremely unhelpful. I was able to get an Rx for Propecia, and began treatment in mid/late September. (Started minoxidil in late-August.) I am still unable to find a hair specialist who will actually run a lab for me. I don't even know my DHT levels. The nearest appointment I can get is April 2006. APRIL 2006!

Effects on my mental state have been subtantial. Over the last 2.5 weeks, I have lost 20 pounds, and rarely sleep. I cannot calm down. I cannot focus on work. I naueseate myself everytime I look in the mirror. All I feel is grief and shame.

I cannot seem to find help from professionals. What's worse is I can't talk to anybody in Real Life. I just feel so.... ashamed -- there's no better word for it. Like I've committed a crime, and am being punished. But I can't say what it is that I've done.

Hey buddy, we're here for you. We are all going through the same thing and feel your pain. If there's anything I or we can help with, just holler. There is hope and a lot in the pipes which might cure our ills.

Weepy, try using Nizoral shampoo once every 3 days or so. I see it's not in your regimine yet.

Thank you m1. I have added it, due to the information on this board. I am also going to try the Tric. spray.

Why on earth did you switch to Xandrox15 after only two months on minox5%?

You are not leaving any big guns for later AND risking another shedding period. Needless to say that if your initial shed was a response to minoxidil stimulation then it is probable that you will shed again.

Give things time to work. You move like a panicked rabbit. :)
