Hope, mostly for hope.

There are studies that show that these medications have an effect and may possibly/probably delay progression of male pattern baldness but individual results may vary. Some have regrowth and will be thrilled, but many do not, and there is not really evidence to suggest that long term (decades) maintenence or reversal of male pattern baldness is possible for everybody with currently available treatments. It may be possible, but it cannot be counted on with current evidence. But, the immediate undeniable benefit of treatments is hope...

Regarding "wasting time" I count time online, time watching TV , and the years spent in my last relationship as "wasted." The few moments that topicals take arent really a problem. Time spent looking in a mirror obsessing are wasted, however.

i doubt any one on here that knows anything about what to expect from treatments out now are expecting "perfect hair" ....sh*t id love "perfect hair" but realistically id also love to keep what i have for a few more years ... and if i have to get a hair transplant down the line to maintain my not "perfect hair" but ok hair i'll do that....it all comes down to realistic expectations and idealism.... if ur searching for "perfect hair" after loss has begun the only place ull find it is under the knife and cloned follicles

I dont think were crazy... at least were doing something about it because we care. I for one am sure that the Proscar has slowed down my thinning... and yes... the hope remains i will always get more hair as a result of my current regime. I thought however that the risk in "wasting my time" applying minoxidil everyday was too great, so i stopped and feel better for that. I guess you just have to believe that what your ultimately doing, with whatever regime you try, is a step in the right direction.

Is it crazy to brush your teeth so that they don't decay?

well iwas talking about that this is unusual, brushin teeth is something that everyone does, but everyone does not apply 2x minoxidil, they dont pop propecia , they dont take "herbs" for their hair health , just remember a guy from a cave could have the perfect hair and you can take care of it and still not have his hair :D

Good question and one which I'm sure, many of us ask. When you've got an investment, you take care of it and make sure that it's kept in good shape and maintained. It's no different when it comes to our manes:)

re:

I think this guy is basically asking if this stuff works....right? This questions iasked constantly and the answer is well maybe. One has to define what "working" is and for me that is just being able to keep what I have. I have been on the big three for about 4-5 months and so far I believe I have seen my hair improve. I have photos that show that I have had a general thickening of my hair and my hairline has come down very slightly.
Others say that they have seen no improvement.
