Washing Hair

Has anyone ever tried not washing their hair for ages to see what effect it has on their hair loss? I've noticed that my fall out calms down a bit if I don't wash my hair for a while, but I have never gone longer than a week without washing. I'm most likely barking up the wrong tree but could cleanliness be a contributing factor to hair loss? I'm not saying that it is the cause, but cleanliness does cause people to be more susceptible to allergies and perhaps it could contribute to hairloss in people genetically predisposed to go bald. I don't think I have ever seen a bald tramp anyway!

I shed more when my scalp is dry. I have found that conditioning helps. In addition, I use Joica Chelating Shampoo to remove build up from topicals. (Gardner's recommendation.) This seems to help.

The hairs you shed today died months ago.

I think I will have to repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat this again and again and again for all those who think that 2 or 3 days of no shampooing made a difference.

Wash your f*****g hair kid. The retarted measures some of you take to pretend that you have control over this.

Dont wash it, hell never wash the sh*t and let pimples and oil build up . See how good your scalp conditiion gets with nothing cleaning that buildup.

Just my personal opinion here and not a scientifically-based statement, but, I would think that not washing hair would increase sebum buildup which in turn provides a better environment for the malveesia fungus. The malveesia fungus is a naturally occuring organism that lives in our scalps that can exacerbate irritation and inflame the body's immune response in a way that is syngergistic with the inflamatory response that the DHT is causing.

Overgrowth of this yeast/fungus is NOT a positive factor for people suffering from male pattern baldness.

Wash your hair.

Maybe, but do humans really need to wash their hair so much? Our ancestors thousands of years ago didn't have shampoos etc., they would have just used plain water, if anything. Perhaps being too clean can reduce our exposure to beneficial bacteria and contribute to hair loss in the same way that cleanliness has reduced our immunity to various allergies. I don't know if there is any way of finding out, but it would be interesting to know how many bald people there were thousands of years ago, or even just several hundred years ago. It is the same as our diets causing certain diseases. It is believed that the modern diet is responsible for many diseases because our bodies evolved living on hunter gatherer style diets and our bodies can't handle modern diets.

Our ancestors thousands of years ago had a life expectancy of 30, if that, so probably not the best model to follow.

In my experience my scalp is healthier when I wash it every day and I get less itching. If I dont wash for even one day i get more itch which I believe is indicative of more inflammation.

Also I think DHT accumulates in sebum, so better to wash it off rather than let it seep into hair follicles.
