Washing hair more than once per day?

I read somewhere that washing your hair more than once per day is bad for your scalp and it depletes natural oils needed for healthy growing hair.

Is this true?

I'm currently using the Revivogen shampoo & conditioner twice a day. Once in the morning and once when I get home from the gym at night.

During the summer months when I had to shower / shampoo a 2nd time during any given day (I'd shower / shampoo in the AM - but then get all sweaty doing outside work or whatever), I'd just do a water rinse in the shower the 2nd time.

Hair still looked pretty decent.

Over-shampooing can be bad for your hair, and can lead to dryness, dandruff, brittleness (is that a word?) and breakage.

Back in the olden days though - when my hair was really oily - I would shampoo a 2nd time if I had an evening social engagement. Worked out OK then for me.

A lot of it depends on the kind of hair you have I guess. These days my hair leans more toward the dry rather than the oily - so I try not to overshampoo.

No. "Natural oils" aren't needed for healthy growing hair. Look at children!
