Vitamins with full beard? First post...

I am a 23 year old male and my hair has been thinning and falling out a little for about 6 months to a year now. So far I have only tried Rogaine for a few months which hasn't seemed to help much (although as of a few weeks ago, I was missing doses quite often... I am trying to not skip any now). The weird thing is that I have a very thick beard.

I usually do not take a multivitamin or any supplements, so my main question is, will vitamins (like A, C, E, B-Complex, Inositol, Choline, Biotin, etc...) help me out for the hair on my HEAD? I have read that these can do wonders. But the reason I am skeptical is because the hair on my face grows with no problem, so will the vitamins make any difference for my head?

If vitamins cannot help, I am willing to try some herbal remedies. Any suggestions on these? As a last resort, I will get Propecia from my doctor. Just from browsing around, I also see that people are using Xandrox. Should I go straight to this?

Any advice? Thanks!

Shawn

My guess is that hormonal imbalance may stun the overall body hair growth. Having healthy beard but thinning scalp hair is an indication that you have high DHT and that your scalp hair is susceptible to it, which is absolutely normal. There is nothing you can do about it apart from take propecia to reduce the DHT in your system.

There are many threads on the subject of diet. Some studies show that healthy diet and active lifestyle can slow the hair loss process down. The important word here is SLOW DOWN, diet is not a prevention. I can see your dilemma, you think having healthy beard is an indication of a healthy body and good hormonal balance. You are probably right.

If you believe your body is missing a particular nutrient, then you could consider adding supplements into your regimen.

I would like to believe that supplements work for me. I have a decent diet, but I am very inconsistent. So, I supplement my diet with a few pills.

Dht, the bastard, promotes healthy body and facial hair but screws the hairs on our heads cause of somthing called the androgen receptor. Get on finasteride or proscar ASAP.

Yea this is what I figured. I will start taking Finasteride. Is there a good place that I can buy the generic version online for the cheapest possible price? I'm sure many people here also have a problem with the cost of Propecia.

And should I be trying Xandrox instead of my Rogaine now?

I appreciate all the help, guys!

I've been browsing around the forums, and I came across the term "diffuse thinning". I think this may be what I have, since it is thinning from my front hairline all the way back to the crown of my head. It is worse at the crown, and the hairline is not receding, it is just thinning.

I have also read that Rogaine does not work for my kind of balding. Is this true? Is there another minoxidil treatment I should use?

Thanks for everything so far... this forum has drastically increased my knowledge already!
