Vellus hair question.

Everytime I ask this everyone says it's answered in the FAQ, but I never leave with a clear answer.

So here goes.

For those of you who have regrown vellus hair that became terminal hairs
I have two questions:

1. Did the vellus hair shed and be replaced by a terminal hair?
a. How long did the vellus hair hang around until shedding?
b. How long after shedding was the vellus hair that shed replaced by
a terminal hair?

2. Did the vellus hair shaft size increase at the bottom to terminal hair
thickness and become a terminal hair?
a. How long did the vellus hair hang around before it's shaft size grew?

1. Did the vellus hair shed and be replaced by a terminal hair?

Yes, in some parts of my balding area. I definitely have terminal hairs in places where there were only vellous hairs before.

a. How long did the vellus hair hang around until shedding?

I saw a few 'sprouts' of what looked like vellous hairs that had turned brown by month one. Of course, nothing was cosmetically significant until at least month 5 or 6.

b. How long after shedding was the vellus hair that shed replaced by
a terminal hair?

Hard to make a general answer to this, because obviously I had a few follicles that responded very quickly, and some others a bit later... and yet still now I have hairs that appear to be only beginning to respond. Probably varies from person to person.

2. Did the vellus hair shaft size increase at the bottom to terminal hair
thickness and become a terminal hair?

No. My first observations were not 'thicker' vellous hairs, but instead what appeared to be vellous hairs that were darker in pigmentation than the others. These hairs, over the course of the following months, appeared to grow longer than the vellous hairs. Vellous hairs are, say, 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch.. well, in the corners of my forehead I started seeing 'dark' vellous hairs that were approaching the 3/4 inch mark. So basically, nothing happened all at once according to some set time table. It has been a hair-by-hair progression, different speeds in different areas.

a. How long did the vellus hair hang around before it's shaft size grew?
