Using Regaine with long hair

How do you guys think Regaine would work with my hair situation? I have rather long which I'm extremely fond of and to have it falling out at 20 is really horrible, I've spoken to a dermatologist and I'm seeing her again soon to discuss the tablet option which I'm against due to side effects (already taking anti depressants).

I've read about shedding and I'm worried if I start using it my long hair is going to fall out and be replaced with short hairs and I'll just look stupid with a mixture of long and short hair, not to mention it's pretty much a life time commitment and it's damn expensive. I've started using the recommended shampoo but I'm not sure if it's made a difference

I know it's hard to make out but my hair is very thin on top and my hairline has been receding for a while now

What do you guys think?

Hi Captain,
are located you hairloss only in the top of the head or all over the scalp? In the photo resemble diffuse alopecia.
A lot of luck

Agreed. Possibly use another minoxidil spray for the top of the head. Wouldn't hurt to see your Doctor either. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies, I think it's all over the scalp, It's very thin at the parting from where I've had it on a pony tail for a number of years, my hairline is also receding dramatically. I've spoken to my doctor and a dermatologist and they said it was male pattern baldness but I'm not quite sure what the difference is.

What other minoxidil options are there?

Adding another photo as I've realised how bad the first one was
