Using Finasteride With 10% Minoxidil, What If I Stop Minoxidil And Use Finasteride Alone

i am 20 year old and suffering from male pattern baldness since last 4 years last year in jan i started topical morrf 5% contains minoxidil + finasteride, it worked and stopped hairfall i was happy but after 3-4 months it stopped working, doctor told me that it works for 6 months only and suggested me for hair transplant, so i gone to another doctor for prp treatment he told me that it will permanently stop my hairfall (he was lying) i took the treatment for 6 month where i was taking dutasteride + 5% minoxidil + another hair supplement tablets + some random hair lotion it did not benefitted me as compare to the amount i was paying but it benefitted the doctor a lot
now i am using 1mg finasteride and 10% minoxidil and thinking about stopping minoxidil and using finasteride alone.
my current doctor told me that finasteride will not work if i stop minoxidil (i think he is lying).
i want to stop minoxidil because its expensive and it stops working after 3-4 monts.

Finasteride is effective without minoxidil, but any hair gained from minoxidil will most likely be lost when you quit. You also said you were on dutasteride, which is more potent and effective at combating hair loss than finasteride.

First of all, minoxidil is not expensive. It's very cheap if you get the generic stuff that works just as well as Rogaine, and just as well as the 10% stuff your doctor is prescribing you. Second, it doesn't stop working after 3-4 months. You generally get maximum results after 1 year. Some people keep getting regrowth for years, and people have maintained on it for a decade. Finasteride absolutely won't stop working if you quit minoxidil, but you will not achieve your maximum results, and the hair that minoxidil regrew may fall out again. It's possible for Finasteride to maintain the minoxidil regrowth, but it's very YMMV.
