I originally posted on here and wasn't sure if I had thinning or balding going on. I just got my haircut today and just not sure, here's 4 new pics if you don't mind. I mentioned Rogaine to my stylist today and he thought I was insane. Would you all do anything about this, like actually using Rogaine? Thank you again. Again, 37 yrs. old and currently not taking anything....and chalk this up to OCD again possibly. Thank you.

I don't think you have hairloss. If you are that worried about it take pictures once a month when your hair is about the same length under the same lighting conditions and if you think it's getting worse then get on meds, but right now I don't see a reason for you to take any medication.

Your hair looks naturally thin (or fine) which makes it hard to tell if you are experiencing any genetic hairloss. If I were you I would watch it very closely and if you do start to see more scalp then you gotta strike fast because hairloss with naturally thin hair can get away from you fast.

You might benefit from a thickening shampoo in the meantime and a trip to the dermotologist.

Thanks for your comments everyone and I agree with the comment that my hair is naturally thin. I unfortunately never had thick hair and actually envious when I see others. I've always had that cowlick in the back since I was born and even though, I cannot comprehend how a cowlick may make places look thinner on your head but so be it. I'll just watch it but not to the point of OCD, thank you again everyone.

Sorry to ask such a stupid question but is that area where I think there is thinning, is that considered the vertex or the crown? Also what would actually if I put Rogaine in there? Would it just thicken it or just maintain of what I have at the same quality? Thank you again.

There is no bald/ thin patch there it's just a natural parting so I doubt rogaine would do anything. There are hair thickening shampoos which aren't designed for hair loss, but apparently work great on thickening naturally thin hair. If you're not happy with your hair, then I'd research them and maybe try them out. It won't have any effect on your hair count i.e. cause shedding like rogaine sometimes does; it's just as simple as changing your shampoo.

Definately, thickening shampoos work wonders on naturally fine hair, which I also have. I use 'Jason thin to thick' and I would say it makes my hair look around 20% thicker when used, I love the stuff but Im sure there are other good products too. I dont think you have a problem with the crown but like the others said keep an eye on it and if it does begin to go, hope on finesteride, I had very minimal thinness beginning in my crown and it completely disappeared within 6 months.

Thanks again everyone. I'm going to check into the Jason's Thickening shampoo and also into the Avalon B Shampoo at Whole Foods. I was using the Loreal Men's shampoo and I actually think that it maybe drying it out with the SLS in it. Also my wife said that she has noticed quite a bit of flakes recently, not to be descriptive, sorry. But thanks again everyone, I'll just definitely watch that area and I appreciate all your comments. Have a good day.

Not to add another comment, but Man In Space, very sorry to hear about the thinning in your crown and hope it has got better for you but when you first noticed & during those 6 months, did you try using Rogaine or anything & did it help you or have you been using it now since after those 6 months & have got any results? Thanks again.

My crown wasnt really the problem, it was only noticable to me that it was just staring to get a little less dense, I hadnt lost hair, it was just the area felt thinner, no one could see anything, but i knew from my experience in my hairline that it was beginning at the back. I began taking meds specifically for my hairline as that had now become noticble to hairdressers and whenever women would put there hands through it for the first time, it was getting boring! So I was mainly concerned about the hairline but it just so happened that the little thinning i had went away and now my crown is as dense as it has ever been

As well as using finesteride and washing my hair with nizoral every other day I have been using rogaine on the crown and in the hairline. I started them all on the same day and I have regrown hair all over my head so i do not know which meds are doing the most magic unfortunately.

It is my belief that if you experience crown loss then finesteride is the best bet as it maintains and thickens your hair, whilst with rogaine you regrow hair but you also keep losing it. However, rogaine will likely work as well and for the best results the two together. This is all hypothetical anyway, I dont think you have an issue with your hair but you know your situation better than we do. Keep taking photos, upload them if you think they are getting worse and you can be sure of an honest answer here.

On a side note, I dont want to oversell it but I do think that one wash with jason thin to thick shampoo and will make a visable difference. It also makes my hair shiny and for some reason more manageable and also i find it nice on the scalp but everyone is different, it may not work as well on others, I just know it really does the business for me.

Awesome, I'll definitely check that out. Not to ask you monty but by these shots, do you think it looks like I have a thinning case or balding from these? I really appreciate everyones opinions, thank you again.

I think also the thing that gets me is that I look at my hair with the bright light and try to look at different angles at the I think thinning areas...don't know if this is sane and not sure if different angles really do show your hair not thick. Again thank you for your comments everyone.
