Hello all!

So I've been taking Finasteride 1.25 MG since 2005 with great success. However, the frontal area could use a boost so I've considered my other options. Recently, I spoke with a hair restoration surgeon in Toronto who prescribed me .5 dutasteride a day; he indicated he is taking it himself.

He confirmed that I was a good candidate for hair restoration and the price seems reasonable for 1500-2000 grafts. However, I was thinking of seeing what my results are on dutasteride for a solid year perhaps before making any decision for hair restoration.

So, I'm on my second day taking dutasteride. Like many of you, I'm sort of skeptical about the long term side effects; primarily the effects of inhibiting Type 1 5AR. If anything, I could always jump back on finasteride in a year or so.

finasteride has worked great over the years, but I feel like i've gotten the most out of it and that the results are on a slow decline.

What are your thoughts about proscar veterans switching from proscar to avodart?

Which products are you trying?

I'm also using Nizoral 2 percent over the counter 3x a week and Folligen spray every other day.

Folligen had an impact almost immediately on my scalp, in terms of keeping it healthy.

still kind of skeptical on this whole dutasteride thing.

You are concerned about the long term side effects of dutasteride but not finasteride?
