Okay,

1. Started Propecia in January 2005

Used for 10.5 Months. Shedding throughout.

2. Started Dutasteride & Minoxidil, December 1, 2005

Used dutasteride for 13-14 Months. Excellent results.

3. Now using Proscar w/ Rogaine Foam.

I've been using Proscar the last 2 months and will continue indefinitely. I can not afford dutasteride anymore with the expenses of living in NYC. I've read reports that people continue getting hairgrowth even after 6 months of stopping dutasteride. I hope that continues!

Rogaine foam works great. It's really benefited my scalp and lifestyle. I don't have dandruff anymore, irritation, inflammation, anything. 100% in love with the foam. (That sounds gay...)

I have some better pics, but these were ideal, and I uploaded them in a drunken haze last night.

Oh yeah, I also shaved my head a few months back. It really looked great on me, and I was very pleased with it. If you guys want some pics of that, I can upload some.

I've been very busy this semester, and don't imagine that I'll be posting much at all. So, more updates will be coming through in the following months.

So 10.5 month on finasteride and all shedding. Nothing positive...how far behind baseline were you before stopping?..not reassuring for us early finasteride users. Do you think it aggravated loss?

Assume that's why you moved to dutasteride and that worked for you or was it the minoxidil you think?

Your hair looks great by the way so looks like its all been worth it.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm very happy with my hair, as it is. And I also feel that my results are only modest in comparison to regrowth Big 3 gives to most people.

Nick4441,
Propecia did close up a baldspot in the back, and it did slow down some recession. But the thinness on top, running from hairline, to temples, to down, was apparent. But..... I also feel that it was simply a prolonged shedding cycle. I wish I would have given Propecia a full 24 months to judge.

Sometimes you scare yourself onto the big guns... and just maybe, they work, too!

But to answer you question, I was looking pretty far behind baseline. It was kinda grim. And yes, I think that the Propecia did aggravate some loss. Of course, this was during a period of time in my life where my stress level, on 1-10, was probably an 8. I was in a horrible condition, so maybe the stress had something to do with it.

It was a bit of both. Dutasteride really "holds the line," and minoxidil grows a shiiiite-load of hair. :D

It's definitely been worth it. I'm very fortunate to say that the treatments are working and maintaining for me. My older brother, unfortunately, has got the Norwood 4A!

Sean68,
thanks brother. It's good to see you on the boards again. I promise you that you're going to be very happy with the treatments, so long as you give them a good 2 years. Not kidding, 2 years to know that they're working. Why are you on Spectral DNC? That's junk. Use Rogaine Foam. :p

Spectral DNC is far from junk, its working faster than any other minoxidil for me, and MANY others are seeing positive results from it. It has a slew of helpfull ingredients in it. Thats just plain stupid to call it junk.

Hey Aplunk1,

grow it out a little bit. Like the thinning and the hairline recession will be completely invisible.
