Hey guys, I'm turning 30 soon and have been worrying about my hairline.

I would TREMENDOUSLY appreciate your guys' expert advice :)
Please take the time to read it and answer that would very helpful.

It started when I noticed a lot of my friends started to show receding hairlines, thinning...even some with cueballs at 25!

So when checking my hair, I noticed that one side (right) was a bit higher than the other side, so starting researching on the net. I had never paid attention to my hair until just recently. Well, my hairline has a strong widows peak naturally and the right side is about an 3/4 inch above the last wrinkle and the left side is about 1/2 inch above the last wrinkle.

Ok, so I've been researching and I don't want to start Propecia because I'm not sure I'm actually in the process of male pattern baldness...nobody has ever mentioned anything to me about it. But I have eyes, and clearly, my hairline isn't what it used to be 5-10 years ago.

I am worried about side effects and DO NOT want to shed hair if I don't have to. What do you think about Propecia?

I would say I am a Norwood 1.5, BTW, and both sides of the family some have all hair and some are cueballs. Dad is a cueball but his brothers have full hair at 50. Mothers side are all NW2-3s at 55-60.

So, finally : ABOUT MINOXIDIL

If I want to keep my hairline from pushing back (if it will), would Minoxidil be a good option?

I do not want to apply on the hair itself, just the hairless areas between the juveline line and my current hairline, will this be a good idea?

Minoxidil will only affect the areas where it is applied correct?

Finally, would you advise me to consider propecia, eventhough I am not sure i'm in the process of male pattern baldness?

Remember I do not want to shed any hair...THANKS A LOT GUYS. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

1: Take some pics so we can look at your hairline and crown.

2: Get a hair catcher for your bathtub. Don't use the normal stainless steel ones with large holes. Hair goes right through those. Get a plastic one that has much smaller holes. I use one that's almost exactly like this one

Get an idea of just how much hair you're actually losing before deciding what to do in regards to propecia.

3: Research propecia and other DHT blockers. Is it right for you? Are the potential sides something that you're ok with? Are you ok taking a pill every day for the rest of your life?

4: THEN make your decision.

I will tell you this...it's 1000x easier to MAINTAIN your hair than it is to regrow it. I wish I would have started propecia 2 years before I did.
