Two ways male pattern baldness occurs?

I haven't seen this brought up, but I've noticed two explanations ( also depending on which product you buy) of male pattern baldness: 1) Too much DHT attaches to the male pattern baldness prone hair follices on the androgen receptors triggering your antibodies to recognize them as "foreign"; causing the antibodies to attack and destroy those follicles. This what we have the anti inflammation topical like nizoral for.
2)DHT attaches to your androgen receptors activating the male pattern baldness prone genes which somehow causing the hair to grow thinner and finer during every growth and rest cycle, eventually till the hair follicle atrophies. This is what we have DHT inhibitors like finasteride and dutasteride for. I was thinking that this might be the reason why some of the hairs such as the ones in the front and especially the "receding" hairline are lost easily (male pattern baldness type 1) and are the hardest to get back and the ones in the back are much easier to get back and maintain (male pattern baldness type 2).

you have it right, but its a combination of the two, there is a somewhat auto immune response from the hair receptors and its response to DHT, which causes the gradual "pattern" of smaller hair...
