Trying to decide if propecia is right for me

Hello everyone,

newbie here..I have been doing my research but have never posted questions on a forum. I have been experiencing hair thinning and loss for the past 3-4 years (I am now 24). My hairline has receeded, especially on the sides, the front top of my hair is very thin, and the crown is beginning to thin as well.

I believe propecia can help me, but I'm hesitant to try it. First off, I have very little facial hair. My male family members can grow thick facial hair, but I cannot. I'm worried that propecia will affect this. Any input? I have heard mixed reviews on this. Would it be a good idea to get a blood test to examine hormonal levels?

I don't think the facial hair issue is of much concern, my chest has gotten hairier than it was 7 years ago when I started finasteride, and body hair/facial hair is pretty similarly linked.

It would be a good idea to get blood work before starting propecia. :)

p.s - some people just don't have much facial hair, you may find you have quite high levels of oestrogen...but sometimes people develop more facial hair as they get older, i.e Bono, Di caprio, Tom Cruise etc..

Frankly, I'm not a very hairy person neither; I typically only need to shave once every 3 days. However, since starting finasteride, I've found that my beard grows faster such that I'd need to shave every other day. But, it could be a combination of things like MSM too... Who knows T_T Gah. Therein, as they say, lies the rub. Nobody knows.

Does anyone have the statistics on the efficacy of propecia on the front of the head?
