Trying 0.07mg of finasteride

A while back I was on finasteride for 3 months using 0.5mg per day. However this gave me the traditional watery semen and decreased libido.
I wasn't happy with this and I also had a second concern of harm to sperm as I want to start a family within the coming years so I decided to stop.

However, with my hair continuing to thin I'm becoming more and more unhappy with it. I have therefore decided to give it another go but on a very low dosage.

I'm sure most of you are aware of this research article : http://www.physics.upenn.edu/facultyinf ... peciafda2/
I don't know anyone who has actually given it a try though, so I thought I would.

The article states that 0.05mg of finasteride should have the almost same effect on scalp dht and serum as the 1mg in propecia.

In case anyone is wondering how I'm getting the 0.07mg, I'm taking a krikland bottle with pepette which holds 65mg of liquid. I'm filling this bottle up with vodka and crushing up 10 finpecia tablets and adding the powder to the solution. I then take 0.5mg of the liquid each morning giving me a dose of 0.07mg of finasteride per day.

I'll keep you updated on any progress.

I too am interested in taking the lowest possible effectiveness dose.

However, I'm sure I've read than it's 0.25mg that gets close to the 1mg dose DHT reduction...

The link I posted says otherwise.

I guess I'll find out in a few months

Just an observation, but if 0.05 affects serum DHT levels just as much as 1mg, how do you expect it to reduce side effects?

I really don't know, but I thought it was worth a try.

The research article states it reduces 'scalp' serum dht levels at a similar level. I don't know if this also relates to levels elsewhere.

Many people on here take 1mg and experience sides, then reduce to 0.5mg and the sides seem to disappear.

I'm doing this as an experiment, I have no idea what the outcome (if any) will be.

I'm puzzled as to why anyone would assume that as you gradually lower the dose more and more, the side effects would go away before the desired effects on your hair go away. For all we know, it might well be the other way around: the desired effects on your hair may actually go away before the side effects go away.

Having said that, I do agree with what $tackz implied: as you gradually raise (or lower) the finasteride dose, I would generally expect BOTH side effects and desired effects to appear (or disappear) at about the same time.

sounds like someone is gonna have a hard time cutting their pills :turned:
well i wouldn't personally go lower than 0.25mg myself
personally i think dutasteride is more suitable for microdosing

because finasteride has a short half life and if you take a small amount you would end up with a negligible dose in your system whereas with dutasteride, the long half life means you keep a more consistent dose staying in your system

Cuttin it and leaving it exposed will reduce the half life of the the drug , but would it then be wiser just to add it to alcohol which would act to preserve it for longer periods of time and making it easier to consume and with more consistant qnty's?

I have only started on minoxidil and nizoral and am trying to decide weather to start on finasteride as i know if i do i cant stop unless i accept my faith !!

With the smaller amount being taken alothough having the same affects as the lager dose :punk: .... im thinking with users stating that the adverse effects subside when the dose is lowered are the side effects simply due to an over dose of this drug ??

just a thought i said id share :dunno:

You may not be aware that the half-life of dutasteride drops dramatically when you go to low "micro-doses". In fact, it's such a problem that I recommend that you NOT use tiny doses of dutasteride at all, for that very reason. It just introduces yet another element of uncertainty for anybody who is doing that.
