Hi guys,

I have been lurking on this forums for well over 2 yrs on and off.
My hair started shedding and my hairline receding about 2 years ago and for some reason they slowed down at some point.
Take note though that they didnt stop completely.

My situation is not that bad I think but I get very depressed sometimes looking into the mirror and be reminded that I am gonna lose whatever that is on my scalp gradually. But...... Today recently I have decided to do something about it. Hopefully the shedding and recedings are gonna stop or , if luck shines on me, reverse its course.

So far I have survived by blowing my hair dry upside down. Anyone tried that trick yet? :D
My hair looks OK under normal condition but when the wind blows, my temples get exposed (2nd last picture where I tried to simulate that environment by blowing my hair from the side).

I have taken the initiative to get myself some monoxidil, contemplating on Proscar since monoxidil doesnt help much when it comes to shedding from what I was told.
Can you guys tell me what you think and how I can find a decent dermatologist in my area?
If you happen to be from San Diego, please pass me some referral.

Have a nice day yall!
:p :p :p

you've been off and on the board for 2 years, you should have started some treatments back then. the sooner the better dude. it's good you're gonna start minoxidil though. i'd recommend you don't think too much about proscar, just get on it now. i'm sure you may be hesitant, but you might as well try it. if you're having problems then you can always stop, no harm no foul. right now your hair looks fine, you do have a patch up on top but no one really notices that unless it gets really big. just go for it, good luck.

You have a lot of healthy hair on your head, so dont stress. Id recommend starting proscar (finasteride), minoxidil and nizoral shampoo. They should be a halt to your hair loss problems and hopefully give you some regrowth! Dont forget to be strict with your minoxidil applications, goodluck and keep us updated

Hi guys,

Thank you for the input.
By the way Im 25. :D

I dont like the patch on top of my head at all. It always make me feel really self conscious when I bend down to pick something up.
But I have to admit I way feel worse about my fringe.
I remember 7-9 yrs ago when I was in high school I had so much hair and so much volume its unmanagable ,I even wished I could make them thinner. As the saying goes "Be careful what you wished for........". Sorry I digressed.
I have been on minoxidil for 1 week now. Is that gonna help with the thinning at all?! AFAIK, minoxidil is only going to addresses my patch on top.
If I can help it I would like to avoid Proscar, you know.

Theres history of baldness in the family too. My granpdpa is bald.My dad's situation is really bad as well. All he has is a narrow strip of hair on the side and the back of his head (Norwood 7). But he is the type who doesn't give a damn about hairloss, which is braggable. He can lose every single strand of hair and still feel he is the king of the hill.
When asked what I should do about my hair loss, he suggested me to "let it go, it runs in the family". Hells no. I ain't going to resign to fate just like that and I ain't going down without a fight!

With the abundant knowledge of people like you guys on this forums I feel that there is eventually gonna be light at the end of my tunnel.

:yeah:

Dude, good luck with the minoxidil but it's not going to halt any hairloss. It'll stimulate some minoxidil dependent growth, but you will continue to lose hair at the same rate. You can avoid proscar all you want, but you may regret it 2 years later when you've lost a lot of hair and decide to get it on it a bit late. Earlier is better.
