Hey, I have found myself on your forums countless times over the past few weeks. Everyone here has really done their research and it's nice to see everyone chipping in their two pence worth. :woot:

So the reason I am writing this post is because I am transwoman and awaiting my doctor prescribing me hormones. The problem that I am having is that my hair has recently, quite dramatically went from healthy and quite average thickness to very fine and the recession of the hairline has started. And the 'widows peak' is looking thinner. I'm not intending to wear wigs but feel that may be a last resort :wacko:
I'm worried that by the time I'm put on anti-androgens and estrogens that I will have lost too much of my hair that I'll no longer be able to pass for a woman.

I have a few questions that I would appreciate if any of you could take the time to answer;

1. Does anyone know how long the hair follicle remains active before being lost forever?
2. I believe I read somewhere that the majority of young virile men tend to have a slight recession to the hairline? I have noticed it does seem pretty common.
3. I am planning on self-medicating on Spironolactone 150mg/daily and dermal patches of estradiol (Obviously I don't think you would all be experts on estradiol) but was just wondering if anyone has read whether estrogen could cause any regrowth? & if Spironolactone would be at a high enough dose to prevent any further hair loss?

Many Thanks,
Carla.
