Hi everyone i am quite new here :) another newbie with hair loss problem. Well actually i have two problems seborrhoeic dermatitis and hair loss. Seems that using topical treatmans with alcohols can be really bad for me not only i can't use propecia because of the sides i can't even use rogaine because of PG it makes my hair thinner. Today i got Jonson baby shampoo and also pg in it :(. I am bad at chemistry and biology but can someone expain me which alcohols i must avoid in order to stop irritation on the scalp.

List:
propylene glycol
sodium laureth sulfate

If you have seborronea better skip those two things. But i am little confuised with things like: cetearyl alcohol (i've read that this is not real alcohol so i guess is ok), SD Alcohol 40B (this stuff is in tricomin) huh kinda strange for me because tricomin i guess is great product for people that don't have healty scalp.

I also wonder if the spironolactone creams that dr.lee and genhair sells contains any stuff like that because with this situation spironolactone is my only weapon for hair loss and i plan to start with this

thanks
p.s sorry about my poor english

I've had horrible experience with Nizoral maybe because of the SLS in it.

Me too. I have seb derm and I'm in the process of figuring out what to use/not use. T-SAl also has SLS. I'm thinking of getting Jasons dandruff shampoo which has no SLS, but I'm wondering if I want to use salicylic acid at all. Something I've noticed works for flare-ups - tea tree oil. Others have said vinegar helps - 1:1 with water.

I just got a consult from Dr Lee and he recommended some of his products without PG. You said you were interested in spironolactone - he said his 5% is fine but his 2% contains PG. Aren't you worried about sides from systemic absorption? Have you considered Xandrox? I don't know anything about it but he recommended it to me.

They're called Sodium Lauryl Sulfates. It's a lathering agent in shampoos and soaps. It's harsh on your hair and can inflame your scalp. I think I'm particularly sensitive to it. I just had a consult with Dr Lee and mentioned my seb derm and he said stay away from PPG as well. At this point I'm worried about the alcohol too. Does anyone believe Nanosal minoxidil to work? Has no PPG or alcohol.
