spironolactone is a drug that converts testosterone to estrogen and blocks androgen receptor sites. Not something you want to use orally unless you want a set of hooters. Dr. Lee makes 2 topical versions that a lot of people here use including myself.

I had bad libido side effects with saw palmetto, but want to use a dht blocker...do you think spironolactone would be ok?

other than maybe revivogen or possibly fluridil, spironolactone is your best option.
I use the 5% in the spots that proscar and minoxidil have failed to do anything and it works great for me.

I'd try it before proscar/propecia, it may be all the antiandrogen you need.
