Hi everyone

Does anyone know which would be more effective topical finasteride Vs Oral finasteride?

Also would topical finasteride be more effective in regards to avoiding the sort of potential side effects that finasteride is so famous for?

thank you

i believe with topical finasteride their is less chance of side effects
since it does not get systematically absorbed in the system

however you need the right conditions for applying it
I.E. crew cut, or shorter hair style etc.

im sure the topical is greasy like liquid MIN

oral or (internal) is probably more beneficial than the topical
and would definitely be more convenient to use

the chances of sides are VERY low
less than 2%

people taking the placebo finasteride
had a higher percentage of sides than the people actually taking finasteride
meaning it's psychosomatic
all in your head

in summation i believe internal finasteride would be a better choice for considering treatments

This is completely untrue. Finasteride is well absorbed and has systematic effects. An article published in the british journal of medicine showed that an 0.05% solution would lower serum DHT level by up to 40%.

I have no idea where you are getting your facts, but you need to check them again. The placebo group had less side effects in every category during the clinical trails for Propecia.

helpwithhair, If your going to use finasteride, it is easier to just take it orally.

You're right, but other studies showed no systemic absorption of the drug whatsoever. I think it was a 0,005% solution though..

The efficacy and security of topical finasteride is still unclear, different studies yielded different results. I believe it is very likely to depend on the vehicle.

So how about Nanominox?

it seems to be all the rage at the moment...

If I used the one with finasteride inside of it would that be just as effective as oral finasteride and have less side effects?

The labels on finasteride bottles give warning about pregnant women handling crushed tablets. I am am pretty sure it's because it is very easily absorbed into the skin. So I don't think the vehicle even matters, I believe it will absorb regardless.

Oh, I think that warning is just a lot of overkill, something being pushed by lawyers. I can show you a study in which a STRONG alcoholic solution of finasteride was applied directly to the skin of women, and there was no noticeable effect on their blood parameters, strongly suggesting that it wasn't absorbed at all. It's very difficult for me to believe that merely handling a crushed finasteride tablet would be any kind of concern AT ALL for a pregnant woman, as long as she's careful not to swallow any of the pieces that might get on her fingers.

Bryan, what are your thoughts on topical finasteride?

I don't think much of it. The studies have been so inconsistent and contradictory, I just throw my hands up in the air when the subject comes up.
