Topical finasteride vs. Oral finasteride

My question is for those who have experimented with both oral and topical finasteride, though not at the same time. I am wondering if you have experienced the same side effects with both, or if there has been a noticeable difference?

I'm thinking swallowing a pill vs putting it on in the form of liquid externally should have a somewhat different level of absorption, which perhaps may affect how harsh the sides can be.
